90 Minutes in Heaven

True Story by: Don Piper

From the Back Cover:

He thought it was going to be just another day. God had other plans.

Don Piper died instantly when his car was crushed by a semi. While his body lay lifeless inside the ruins of his car, Piper went to heaven. Ninety minutes after the wreck, he miraculously returned to life on earth with only the memory of heavenly bliss. His faith in God was severely tested as he faced an uncertain and grueling recovery. Now he shares his life-changing story with you.

If you've ever wondered what heaven was like, if you've ever questioned God's goodness because bad things happen, if you've had trouble believing that heaven is real--this incredible true story will change your life.

A local bookstore in our town is going out of business, so I scooped up a copy of this book at 40% off last week.  I have heard about this book for sometime now, yet had never gotten around to picking up a copy.  When I saw this one on the shelf, a special edition for Young Readers, I thought it would be a great one for my tween and teen to read, as well as myself.

Naturally, I felt overwhelmed with joy, excitement and relief, as Pastor Don Piper described his brief encounter in Heaven after his fatal car accident.  I sat on my sofa and cried for at least 10 minutes at the thought of what is waiting for me when I leave this Earth.  I am a believer.  I believe in Heaven and believe it will be my permanent home when it is time for me to leave here.  With that being said, and I am being honest, there are days that I have my doubts.  There are days that my faith isn't at the level it needs to be.  In the back of my mind I wonder "Will we REALLY get to see our loved ones when we get there?  Does a perfect place like that REALLY exsit?  Is it REALLY going to be like that?"  When those questions arise I have to let my faith kick in because without hard evidence and absolute proof, that's all we have to go on...our Faith.

This book is an amazing testimony to the power of prayer and how miracles on this Earth still occur.  It reassured me that God is the one in control and through him all things are possible.  Don reassures us, through his book, that there is a better place waiting for us.  He knows because he has been there.  The book also describes this man's painful recovery, how prayer saved him and how he, through his own experience, is bringing peace, comfort and encouragement to others.

I highly recommend this book for yourself and the Young Readers edition for children ages 9 +.  I can say, at this very moment, I feel peace in my heart and rejoice at the thought of being greeted by my "welcoming committee" someday.

Alas, Mexi Rolls

Could it get any better than this? Maybe, but not likely.  What are the odds that this small town in Wyoming, that we now proudly call home, has a Taco John's ?  Now, not everyone here has the same respect for the Potato Ole's, cheese dip, Pizza burger and Mexi Rolls that I do, mainly people that are from Texas and just don't understand the concept of Mexican fast food. However, all my Murray, Kentucky peeps who grew up with that six pack and a pound know where I'm coming from when I say Taco John's is on my "have to eat at list" every year when we travel back home.  And though we may not admit it, we all secretly get a little rage of jealousy when we read on Facebook about someone's trip home and they have 'checked in' at Taco John's. Or what about when somebody is on a road trip and they post that they have stumbled upon a Taco John's and they are now enjoying something out of that brown paper bag and then us folks that live in Taco

Superbowl Party XLVI

With the Superbowl only days away, and more than 100 million people gathering to watch the big event in their homes, my goal is to make your bash the party to remember.  The number one thing the Superbowl does is bring people together (which could be both a bad and good thing), so fire up the grill and break out the hot wings and cheese dip folks because it's time for some football! According to an article I was reading in a Billings Gazette  insert, there are some rules that you can follow to ensure your party-goers have a foolproof time. FOUR RULES FOR A FOOLPROOF TIME: 1.   Give guests a choice of party zones.   Who says you only have to have one viewing area?  Have more than one TV set up and tuned into the game.  One can be used for those die hard football fanatics who want to see every play and call of the game and the other for the chatters and snackers.  A basement or a media room would be perfect for the die hard fans and then a TV in the kitchen/dining or living spac
