Remembering the Good Times

It's amazing how a kid's mind works. The things they recall at such a young age and the way they express it.   Little League Football has returned to our home.  There is a gap between the teenagers and the littles, so it's been a few years since we have sat on the side lines at a little league football game. I'm not going to lie, it's a little painful. The disorganization. The confusion.  The whinning.  And then there are the tired parents sitting in their camping chairs who you know have only three things on their minds.  What am I cooking for dinner?  I'll never get them to do their homework.  How do I keep them awake long enough to get them bathed?  Ethan is QB for his 4th grade team.  He's doing great for his first year and he does great at remembering plays and making long passes to the receivers.  He scored his first touchdown last night, which was really cool.  However, once we got home and the hype had settled down, the dram...

RIP Whitney Houston

I am shocked at the news of Whitney's passing, and at the age of 48!  No news yet on the circumstances, but I wanted to give a shout out to a beautiful lady who will always be a big part of my childhood music memories.  I think I even had her record...yes, if my sons are reading this, I owned records!  Why is it that we lose the great ones far too soon?  I totally blame Bobby Brown for this one!  RIP Whitney.

My project for the day! Love capturing memories with my boys! And to all you Veterans out there; Thank you and God Bless! Happy Veteran's Day!

it's been awhile...

it's been a busy summer so far, but it's been a great one.  our  trip to Hawaii was absolutely amazing.  our visit with family from kentucky has been relaxing and enjoyable.  our day trips have been fun and adventerous.  and our walks at night, trips to the ice cream store and swimming with friends have been filled with laughs and unforgetable memories.  funny how the act of balancing kids, housework, meals and just life in general always seems easier in the summer!

winter wonderland

i love snow. i love memories as a child of playing in the snow with my two cousins. building snowmen, making snow angels and having snow ball fights. i remember my grandmother making snow cream and me just eating snow right out of a tupperware bowl with a spoon while sitting in front of the t.v. when we moved from kentucky to texas in 2007 i had accepted the fact that we wouldn't get to experience those fun-filled winters and our children would grow up being one of those kids who had never seen snow. well, yesterday the unexpected happened and God dropped a little bit of wonderland in our yard.....actually about 6 inches of it. snow days are the best days of the year. it provides endless hours of free entertainment for the kids and to me, there is nothing better than being warm and cozy and stuck in the house with the ones that i love the most. thank you God for these special days. my cup is overflowing.
