Holding Fast

k aren James.  Listening to her story this past summer at  Women Of Faith , in Dallas, Tx, brought me to tears.  I was so moved by her story and her unfailing faith, i felt compelled to buy her book, Holding Fast: The Untold Story of the Mount Hood Tragedy.   For an entire year after the tragic accident of her husband, Kelly James, becoming trapped on Mount Hood, Karen gathered facts and information about this horrible tragedy, in 2006, that changed her life forever.  This book is her story of what really happened to her husband and his two climbing partners and friends, Brian Hall and Jerry "Nikko" Cooke".  Even though, before you even begin reading the book, you already know the outcome, it is a book I found hard to put down.  Her faith, love for her husband, love for her God, and her family, and her strength after she lost her husband gave me, a reader, something to thrive for in my ow...

Sock Therapy?

i  ordered these cute little socks for my little j axon and I was so excited when I came home and saw the package in the mailbox.  He, of course, took one look at them and HATES them!  "I don't want these socks, I want my socks!"  Today I found them hid behind the swinging dining room door. What the heck is the deal with my kids and their socks? ?   Wonder if our insurance pays for sock therapy? photo from: The Children's Place !

Another day, Another Dollar!

t he year of 2011 has so far been a big one for starbucks.  first they announce they are  changing their logo and now, starting today in the great state of texas, among others, we can now get a super sized amount, the Trenta, of our favorite iced coffees!  however I am totally bummed that we don't have a starbucks in our town, otherwise I would be running out this a.m. to snatch one of this up, just because.  p hoto courtesy of www.starbucksmelody.com  a great unofficial page for all you Starbucks lovers like myself!! after preheating my oven i kept smelling a burnt rubber stench.  i continued whipping up my cornbread batter and then it dawned on me, a little boy had gotten caught earlier that day with the oven door open. i threw open the oven door and out rolled smoke and the most horrible smell.... t hese truly were some Hot Wheels ! barump bump!

sunday snow!

o ur drive home from church yesterday was absolutely beautiful. on our way to service in the early morning we were complaining about the cold, wet rain. when service let out, we opened the doors to a winter wonderland! we get pretty excited about this white stuff down here in texas!

thirsty thursday & fat sock craziness

s o, starbucks has unveiled their new logo!  personally, i think i like the older ones better.  the cup usually has a sleeve on it anyway, so is the logo on the cup even seen?  i wonder if the cup sleeve has changed? Since our town has NOT ONE Starbucks, I guess it will be a while before I know the answer to that question... d inner last night didn't turn out to well.  The kids decided that soup and grilled cheese sounded good, so after sticking the sandwiches under the broiler I turned to Words with Friends on my iphone, and when I turned around the kitchen was filled with smoked.  Needless to say, mom got to eat burnt grilled cheese tops for dinner last night.... e veryday my kid complains about his "fat socks".  they are no show socks that are a little big, but fit perfectly fine in my opinion.  he has a couple of pairs that are  little small and those are his favorite.  so on those days instead of hearing the whini...

Goodbye 2010!!

N ew Year Resolutions?   I refuse to set such insane goals for myself so that when I once again begin to fall behind, become disorganized and gain weight I will not feel like a FAILURE!!  Instead I will try my best to eat healthy so that I will feel more like staying on top of things and hopefully the organization fairy will slap me in the face with her wand which will probably be more effective than me making a resolution to be more organized anyway. I am actually looking forward to saying goodbye to 2010 and can only hope that with the arrival of 2011 my kids will magically start getting along, cleaning up their messes and not break everything in their paths.  Then, all will be right with the world. H a p p y N e w Y e a r ! !

I wanna know where da Gold's at...but I'll settle for some Lindor Chocolate!

Wow, is really all I can say about this news report! My son and husband watch this on a daily basis!   My Christmas gift to my hubby was an iphone 4.  I introduced him to Words with Friends...yeah!  Now I have found that the most effective way to communicate with him is to message him when it is my turn to play a word.  Houston, we may have a problem here! Who knew trying to get a picture for the McKnight Family Christmas card would be such a challenge?  This one almost made the cut....just keepin' it real! L is for Lindor Chocolate! Yum! Oh, what I have been missing out on all these years!!
