The Bluegrass State, divided

If you're not from Kentucky you have no idea what kind of "Ky fried Hell" is about to take place.  The UK Wildcats versus the UofL Cardinals in the Final Four, Saturday, at 6:09.  This will be the most significant game between these two rivals in that this is the first time they are coming face to face in the Final Four.  This is a meeting that is just short of pure combustion.  We are talking Crips and Bloods here people! Myself, like most typical UK fans, aren't fans of North Carolina, Tennessee, Duke, Indiana and have a very strong dislike for Louisville.  It's all we know.  It's how we were raised.  It's in our blood.  We bleed UK blue! In Kentucky, basketball means more than politics and religion (some will argue that basketball is our religion), and on the days that UK plays Louisville you don't make plans, you sit and you watch.   It's tradition.  It's legendary.  It's basketball in Kentucky. Go Big Blue!   Out...

Basketball in Kentucky, there's nothing else like it!

Big Blue Nation #1.  GO CATS! Being born and raised in Murray, Kentucky, we were brought up to love Kentucky Basketball.  You didn't have a choice.  So, naturally we are raising our boys to do the same.  Game day at our house gets a little loud and rowdy and I love it.  Being an only child, my house was pretty quite, so even though I often complain of being the only girl in our family of six, I wouldn't trade my boys and their love for KY basketball for anything.  Although I did have to put my foot down when they wanted to fly a big blue flag from the front of my new house, we eventually came up with a compromise  and it was decided they can fly their blue and white from our camper.   And in case you haven't heard about our Murray State Racers, who are now 20-0 and ranked #9 on the coaches poll.  I'm posting the link to a song that has been remixed and dedicated to the Racers.  Talk about a pre-game song to get you pumped!  Ba...

Taking a minute to brag!

Every mother loves to brag about her kids, so I am taking a minute to brag about mine.  Our oldest is 15, a freshman in high school and part of a very athletic freshman class.  They went undefeated in football and so far they are undefeated in basketball.  They are being told they are the best freshman team in Wyoming, which makes all of us parents really proud.  As I have mentioned in a previous post , our small town of Cody publishes EVERYTHING in the newspaper.  So, you can only imagine how happy I was that our son Dillon got recognized for his points scored in a recent game and equally as happy he didn't have to suffer from humiliation of his mom being recognized for speeding through town.  (thank you again Ms. Policewoman for only giving me a warning!)  My only complaint about the paper is that every time he has been mentioned in an article they have spelled his name wrong.  I guess that's what I get for trying t...

Murray State?

W ho the heck is MSU? That seems to be the question that everyone is asking after they stomped some Vanderbilt butt in the first round of the NCAA playoffs. Murray State University is located in my hometown of Murray, KY and the University that both my husband and I attended. And let me just say, this house is rockin' tonight after watching the Racers kick some booty with that much talked about winning shot at the buzzer that has advanced this Ohio Valley Conference Team to the next round. Their 31-4 record is one of the top three records in the tournament, and it is obvious that they want to win. So, all I have to say is watch out Butler, cause Murray State has obviously come to play some ball! Go Racers!
